Sub:- Appeal for financial assistant for relief and restoration work in cyclone affected areas of Odisha

Revered Atamn,

Sadar Bandey, on 3rd May 2019 an unpredented severe cyclonic storm “Fani” has hit all the coastal districts of Odisha covering some six districts. The wind velocity reached more than 200 kmph. The eye of the storm was around Puri City and hit the city at about 8.00 am in the morning of 3rd May, subsequently the cyclone moved North East affecting Bhubaneswar, Khorda, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, parts of Jajpur and other districts. As a result of it has devastated major cities like Bhubaneswar, Puri, Khurdha and all the rural areas in the above eleven districts. More than 50 people have lost their lives and around 80 lakhs people are badly affected. All the Kutchha houses are completely damaged in rural and slum areas, people have lost their livelihood, agriculture implements and Khariffs crop are completely damaged. People are in serious distress and in need of basic necessities like food, drinking water, medicine, school kits, books, baby foods, seeds for khaeiff crop and shelter (tarpolin).

At this hours of need Utkal Bipanna Sahayata Samiti (UBSS) has opened 7 centers across Puri, Khurda and Cuttack district, where relief work is being coordinated and also centrally coordinated from its headquarters in Mancheswar Industrial Estate, Bhubaneswar. Though the causality of human life and cattle loss are much less in comparison to 1999 super cyclone yet the magnitude of the devastation is so high that we need more and more supporting hands and resources to continue to reach out to people at their time of need and in distress. We appeal your good self to support the people at the time of need to overcome the trauma of loss of life and property of the people of Odisha as gesture of good will of your organisation to serve mankind The assistance for the people may be routed through UBSS either in CASH or KIND as per bank details indicated below.

Anticipating a positive response

Yours Sincerely

(Abhay Samantaray)
